Temperament
Тобет — пастушья охранная собака, выведенная работать без человека рядом. Спокойна, молчалива, лает редко и по делу. Решения принимает сама: это не упрямство, а то, за что породу и отбирали — при отаре в степи командовать некому. К своим привязана крепко, к чужим недоверчива без агрессии, пока те не заходят на территорию. С детьми семьи терпелива.
Care
Шерсть с плотным подшёрстком, вычёсывать дважды в неделю, в линьку чаще. Городская квартира не подходит: нужен двор, который собака может обходить. Щенка нельзя перегружать до года — суставы у крупных пород формируются долго. Порода приспособлена к резко континентальному климату и одинаково переносит и сорок градусов жары, и морозы.
Origin
Аборигенная казахская пастушья собака, известная с глубокой древности. Отбор шёл естественный: выживали и работали те, кто справлялся с волком и не трогал овец. К концу XX века поголовье чистых тобетов сильно сократилось, породу восстанавливают. Родственна среднеазиатской овчарке и часто зовётся её казахским отродьем — отдельной породой FCI тобета не признаёт.

- The puppy sits to one side, struggles to get up after sleeping, runs with a “bunny hop” using both hind legs together. What is in your hands: no excess weight and no jumping down from height while it grows. The puppy’s parents are screened by X-ray — ask the breeder.
- Keep in mindGastric torsion (bloat)
- A lethal emergency in deep-chested breeds: a swollen hard belly, retching that brings nothing up, restlessness, drooling. This is the emergency vet right now, with no “let us wait until morning”. Prevention: feed twice a day in smaller portions and no running straight after a meal.
