Suits. Пастушья охрана отар, работает без человека, спокоен к скоту.
Be aware. Территория обязательна. Не служебная и не спортивная собака — заставить её работать по команде не выйдет.
Temperament
Крупный, спокойный и очень уверенный пастуший охранник. Кангал не агрессивен без причины и не суетлив: он оценивает и действует. К семье привязан, с детьми терпелив, к чужим настороженно-сдержан. Работает самостоятельно, послушание в служебном смысле ему чуждо.
Care
Короткая двойная шерсть, вычёсывать раз-два в неделю, в линьку чаще. Хорошо переносит и жару, и мороз. Нужен двор и крепкий забор; квартира исключена. Щенка не перегружать до полутора лет. Порода в целом здоровая, из значимого — дисплазия и заворот желудка.
Origin
Аборигенная порода Центральной Анатолии, охраняла отары от волка. В Турции считается национальным достоянием, вывоз долго был ограничен.

- The puppy sits to one side, struggles to get up after sleeping, runs with a “bunny hop” using both hind legs together. What is in your hands: no excess weight and no jumping down from height while it grows. The puppy’s parents are screened by X-ray — ask the breeder.
- Keep in mindGastric torsion (bloat)
- A lethal emergency in deep-chested breeds: a swollen hard belly, retching that brings nothing up, restlessness, drooling. This is the emergency vet right now, with no “let us wait until morning”. Prevention: feed twice a day in smaller portions and no running straight after a meal.
