Temperament
Весёлая, дружелюбная и очень упрямая собака. Бигль живёт носом: взяв след, перестаёт слышать хозяина совсем, поэтому без поводка отпускать его можно только на закрытой территории. Прекрасно ладит с детьми и другими собаками. Голосистый — лает и подаёт голос охотно, что в квартире слышат соседи.
Care
Шерсть короткая, вычёсывать раз в неделю. Уши висячие, плохо проветриваются — осматривать и чистить регулярно, отиты у породы часты. Главная забота — еда: бигль ест непрерывно и всё подряд, включая несъедобное. Без строгого контроля порции быстро набирает вес.
Origin
Английская гончая для охоты на зайца, известна с XVI века. Работала стаей и пешком, поэтому невелика ростом. Сегодня чаще домашняя собака.

- Keep in mindIdiopathic epilepsy
- Seizures with no outside cause, usually between six months and five years. During a seizure do not reach into the mouth — that is how people break their own and the animal’s teeth. Time it: a seizure longer than five minutes is an emergency. Film it, that matters more to the vet than your description.
- OccursIntervertebral disc disease
- A yelp when picked up, a hunched back, wobbly hind legs. This is an emergency: from the moment the legs give out, the clock runs in hours. Prevention is simple and it works — no jumping off the sofa or down stairs, and no extra weight.
- OccursAtopic dermatitis
- Itching without fleas: paws, belly, ears. The dog licks its paws rusty-brown, shakes its head, the ears keep flaring up. Food usually gets the blame while the cause is pollen, dust mites or mould. This is one for a dermatologist, not for changing food at random.
