Suits. Крепкая, выносливая и очень привязчивая к своим людям собака. Шерсть короткая, ухода почти не требует.
Be aware. Выгул только на поводке и в наморднике: списки пород, для которых это обязательно, утверждаются местно — уточняйте в акимате своего города. С другими собаками часто конфликтна, и это черта породы, а не воспитания.
Temperament
Собака одного круга: к своим людям привязана до навязчивости, чужих встречает скорее приветливо, чем настороженно, — сторож из неё плохой. Умна, тянется работать вместе с человеком и хорошо отзывается на обучение через поощрение. Другую собаку на своей территории терпит плохо: это заложено породой, а не появляется от плохого обращения.
Care
Короткая шерсть линяет круглый год понемногу, хватает резиновой рукавицы раз в неделю. Нужны полтора-два часа движения и голова, занятая делом, иначе собака находит себе занятие сама. Наследственно значимы дисплазия локтя и бедра, разрыв передней крестообразной связки, аллергический дерматит и болезни сердца; хромота после нагрузки — повод к врачу, а не «полежит и пройдёт». Кожа светлых собак горит на солнце.
Origin
Выведена в США из английских бультерьеров и терьеров для собачьих боёв, запрещённых уже полтора века. FCI породу не признаёт; в Америке её ведут UKC и ADBA, и от американского стаффордширского терьера она отделилась именно разными реестрами, а не разной кровью.

- Keep in mindAtopic dermatitis
- Itching without fleas: paws, belly, ears. The dog licks its paws rusty-brown, shakes its head, the ears keep flaring up. Food usually gets the blame while the cause is pollen, dust mites or mould. This is one for a dermatologist, not for changing food at random.
- Keep in mindCruciate ligament rupture
- Sudden lameness on a hind leg after a jump or an awkward turn. The second ligament often goes within a year of the first. Weight and gradual conditioning are the only things that hold it off.
- OccursHip dysplasia
- The puppy sits to one side, struggles to get up after sleeping, runs with a “bunny hop” using both hind legs together. What is in your hands: no excess weight and no jumping down from height while it grows. The puppy’s parents are screened by X-ray — ask the breeder.
